meta tags show in browser

by Adam Gardener » Sun Feb 14, 2016 2:46 am

Hi All, I'm new to html and appreciate these tutorials quite a lot. I'm using Mac OS X and I've had no problems creating the simple documents as described in the lessons on TextEdit and opening them on Safari. All's well. Here's the problem:

When I do the same drill using the text editor in Apache Open Office 4, and open the saved html file in safari, the browser shows all the text and the meta tags enmasse. I am sure the doc is saved as html. I tried using Firefox but again, the meta tags and the text appear on the browser page. How to fix? Thanks for the help!

It might be possible to find a good JavaScript programmer who could write something to erase or change the tags after the page has been loaded into the browser. Search engines do not run any JavaScript, so they should see that tags as always.
