Embedded Youtube videos played in HD

by goodfly » Wed May 23, 2012 11:41 pm

Hi,

I am trying to figure out how to show an embedded Youtube video in HD and autoplay.

This is the code I am using right now:
Code: Select all
<object width="472" height="270"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/SPuaNHYEC04&autoplay=1?version=3&amp;hl=de_DE"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/SPuaNHYEC04&autoplay=1?version=3&amp;hl=de_DE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="472" height="270" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Autoplay works, but how can I make it show in HD also? Where do I put this code &ap=%2526fmt%3D18 or &hd=1?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers, goodfly

To embed a HD quality YouTube video with high definition resolution on external website or blog, simply add or append &ap=%2526fmt%3D22 code (instead of &ap=%2526fmt%3D18 to display just higher quality 480×360 video clip) to the end of movie parameter value and embed source in the YouTube embed code. For example, we take a look at original embed code for “Where the Hell is Matt? (2008)” YouTube hosted video clip that available in HD format.

<object width=”425″ height=”344″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/zlfKdbWwruY&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0″></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/zlfKdbWwruY&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”425″ height=”344″></embed></object>

By appending &ap=%2526fmt%3D22 HD hack switch, the embed code will become like the following:

<object width=”425″ height=”344″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/zlfKdbWwruY&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&ap=%2526fmt%3D22“></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/zlfKdbWwruY&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&ap=%2526fmt%3D22” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”425″ height=”344″></embed></object>

Thank you for the links CubeSquare and XainPro!

This is the url to the video: http://youtu.be/SPuaNHYEC04 and I am using the embed code given by the Youtube site.
The video is not listed, but I don't think that should have any influence.

What I cannot figure out is where to add &ap=%2526fmt%3D22 into the embed Youtube code posted above.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help, XainPro!

I have no problem finding the code in other embed codes. My problem is that I can't get it to work on my embed code. I've tried.

Where do I add &ap=%2526fmt%3D22 on this embed code?

Code: Select all
<object width="472" height="270"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/SPuaNHYEC04&autoplay=1?version=3&amp;hl=de_DE"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/SPuaNHYEC04&autoplay=1?version=3&amp;hl=de_DE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="472" height="270" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Wow thank you CubeSquare! It works perfect on my PC!

The only thing is, when I upload it to my website, it is showing in 240p again. How can that be?

I'm baffled! lol

Thank you, CubeSquare!

I used charset=8859-1, but there is no change.

The only other difference I found in your code is that you use <br /> instead of </embed>. Using either of them shows the same way.

What is the video ID number? The url?

Could the doctype be what is giving trouble?

Another strange thing is that Youtube no longer let's me get the old code <object>. On any other video it is possible:

Let me know, if this image can be seen.

Hi CubeSquare,

good suggestion1 I will do that in the future.

I'm using the code you gave me for my website. The video shows fantastic on my PC.
But after loading the page into my site all browsers (safari, firefox, IE and opera) play the video in 240p. I have no idea why this is happening.

Will using &ap=%2526fmt%3D22 instead of hd=1 solve the problem of the video not playing in HD?

Hello CubeSquare,

my goal is that the visitors to my website get to see the video in HD as soon as they click on the "START" button on the index page.

I think it was last year sometime when Youtube announced the 3D option. Check out the settings on your Youtube channel.
According to my settings overview I am rated "Advanced". Maybe that's why I have more options?

I only have the 3D option on this last video. And as mentioned, only on this video I can no longer get the old embed code. I only get the iframes code. Wondering if that's part of the problem?

Cheers,
