Both have their advantages. Larger companies tend to value customer support more, so tend to go with a product like .Net, but I prefer something open-source. Some of PHP's syntax is a bit odd, but it's a very good language and it works very well. I choose to use PHP for most of my sites, like my Washington DC Drywall site.
