need help with css

by torturebori007 » Wed Mar 14, 2012 9:13 pm

I hope you guys can help me out, I am a noob at this. So thank you in advance.

So attached is the design I want.

So my background is grey, my body content is a darker grey, but if you look on the left theres that stripe of lighter grey. With those two colors there I cannot figure out how to make that work.
Would I create two separate divs? and how do I round those corners, which I want to be round even in IE.

Then I have my footer out there floating in space, I do want it that way as well....

I hope you guys can help

Thanks

For the rounded corners you can go here: http://jonraasch.com/blog/css-rounded-c ... l-browsers
and for the stripe of lighter gray you could do: <div class="content"><div class="othercontent">XXXXXXXXXX</div></div> and then in css: .content {background-color:#ccc;} .othercontent {background-color:#666;margin-left:100px;}

XainPro, I am very thankful you posted those links to my message. While I didn't have the code, now I am writing it. I was stuck thinking of how I was going to make the roundness work. I will post in just a bit. Hopefully you guys can check it for me.

I am new to making web sites. so all the critic will help me.

Thanks

I understand, and I am working hard...I will show you the final product.

It was the silly two color background and the rounded corners that I could not figure out.

This small project I am doing is based from me studying the tutorials here, but certain things they don't show, and I tried first before I come looking for the help. I thank you.

Please when I place my link, vibist my site and check it out to see if I can do something better or if I went too much. Because I am sure I will do somethings the long way compared to experienced people here.
