AJAX and JQuery

by Edward123 » Wed Dec 14, 2011 2:16 am

Hi
I have been playing around with javascript for a couple of weeks now, far from a pro but I have a good understanding of it and I find it really enjoyable to play with... but I want to move on to bigger and better things!

I have just received two new books, AJAX for dummies and JQuery for dummies! I like the 'for dummies books' as they use language I understand. Anyway which should I be reading and playing with first? I was thinking the AJAX as I no that the JQuery library is meant to be pretty extensive. I really have no preference apart from which one will lead me onto the second one better.

If you want to get deeper into AJAX, then I advise you to tackle the AJAX book. I'm not sure, since I haven't read it, but it might be that jQuery AJAX will be among the topics treated in the book.

If, on the other hand, you want to go deeper into writing code the jQuery way, then go for the jQuery book. I'm sure there will be a chapter on jQuery AJAX. However, keep in mind that jQuery has its own website that you can use as reference.

Started on the Ajax book today and think it was the right decision as it will help me with my PHP as well.
