Improving my design skills

by jrogge » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:38 pm

Hi, I have read the HTML and CSS tutorials and am slowly learning JavaScript while making some HTML/CSS websites along the way. I've designed 4 web sites so far (not for pay, only for experience, and none are on the Internet) and I've realized I'm pretty bad at the design itself. I can make an HTML/CSS site look how I want, the problem is I don't really know what to make the site look like. I have gotten in the habit of redesigning a website if I'm browsing through the web and notice a particularly bad one, but my design often isn't much better than the original. I've also read up on color theory, design theory, visual direction in web design, and a few other things, and I frequently look through http://webdesign.tutsplus.com/ . Is there anything else I can do to help myself get better or is it a matter of practicing a lot?

Do more practice because practice make men perfect.
Start designing professionally (for money) because you will feel relax when you fulfill the requirement of client.
And client will force you to do work until he is satisfied.
And Learn more and more happy learning !
