Please help.

by Nilutpal Boruah » Wed Jan 29, 2014 12:43 pm

Please help.. I was using windows 8. And I was told that linux ubuntu is best for programming.. I downloaded ubuntu 12.04 lts and installed it alongside windows 8. Now the problem is that I've ne'er used linux before and I don't know where to write and run the programs... I don't even know whether I should require extra softwares for doing that?

well i do think linux is best but for higher level of programing like JAVA etc for web i think windows 8 have all the tools you required :)
about extra software i would say it's just an operating system so in windows 8 you can write or program in notepad or you can download notepad++ or you can install adobe dreamweaver just like that in ubuntu if you want to use it's own
gedit it's pre-installed or if you want to use any other software you have to install it like
NetBeans is best and free or atlanta etc there are lot's of option in linux.
good luck !

Go with what you are more familiar with! It will save you a lot of time.
You can program C on Linux as well as on Windows, it doesn't really matter!
